Accessibility

We have designed this website with people from various backgrounds in mind, including those with different types of disability and illnesses, the elderly, and those whose first language is not English.

The options we have included to help people use this site are:

  • Integrating Google Translate, online software that can translate the web pages into many different languages. The translation is automated so it may not be perfect, but it should be understandable.
  • A zoom option that can increase the size of any text, for those who have trouble reading smaller prints
  • A high contrast facility, which uses colour to make words stand out better and therefore make them easier to read.

Do you require a screen reader?

There are a number of different screen readers available for free including those which work on smart devices. Click on any of the links below for more information - these links will open a new page for you.

At the user testing stage before we launched, the site was tested by a specialist accessibility organisation (MPH in Gateshead), who fed back any problems or suggestions to us so that we could make the necessary adaptations.

We hope that you find the site easy to use and interesting however if you are struggling to find any information from this website, please telephone or call into one of our Castles & Coasts offices for help. Click here for the locations.

If you have any comments about the accessibility of our site, then please contact Stephen Harrison, Involvement & Equality Officer, at our Castle Street office.
