Update on our repairs service

The health, safety and wellbeing of our residents, staff and contractors continues to be a priority for Castles & Coasts Housing Association (CCHA).

At the end of March 2020, CCHA wrote to all residents to explain that, due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, CCHA were required to amend some of the services we provide to residents. At this time, our priority was to continue delivering urgent services. We prioritised safely continuing the services that keep our residents, and their homes, safe and we have always followed the most up to date Government guidance in all of the decisions we have made to prioritise, amend or postpone services.

Since March 2020, we have been required to pause non-emergency, day to day, repairs within our residents’ homes. This decision followed Government guidance and was made to help protect the health and wellbeing of our residents, staff and contractors.

However, following the publication of new Government guidance, in relation to the works that can be undertaken in people’s homes, we are extremely pleased to announce that we are now able to recommence the completion of day to day repairs, in homes where residents are not shielding or self-isolating, due to COVID-19.

If you are not shielding or self-isolating, we are now able to access your home to carry out a range of works. These works include:

• Routine inspections
• Essential and non-essential repairs and maintenance works
• Planned maintenance works, both inside and outside your home

We would like to remind you that, in line with Government and Health & Safety Executive requirements, CCHA are legally required to undertake an annual Gas Safety Check at your home. This requirement has not changed, as a result of COVID-19. Therefore, if your Gas Safety Check is nearly due, you will be contacted by a member of the CCHA Team to arrange an appointment. If you are shielding, for medical reasons, or self-isolating, due to COVID-19, we would be grateful if you could let us know by contacting our Customer Services Team by clicking here, or by telephone on 0800 085 1171.

We would like to provide you with the assurance that whilst our staff and contractors are undertaking works at your home, they will be following Government guidelines in relation to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and social distancing. We would ask that, to allow us to protect our residents, staff and contractors, you also respect social distancing guidelines, whilst staff and contractors are undertaking works at your home.

As we are sure you can appreciate, due to us pausing day to day repairs, we currently have a backlog of repairs; therefore, it may take longer than normal for us to carry out non-essential works. However, we aim to complete any repairs which are logged with us, as soon as possible.
