New play park for Moorclose community

A tired play park in Moorclose, Workington, is set to be replaced with brand new equipment.

Castles & Coasts Housing Association has been working alongside local residents, to shape plans for the replacement of play facilities in Moorclose. The community’s existing play park – known locally as Seven Slides – has been temporarily removed, after it became clear that parts, which were required to repair the equipment, could no longer be sourced, as the play equipment was extremely old.

Local residents have been contacted by staff of Castles & Coasts Housing Association, to have their say on what they would like to see the old equipment to be replaced with. The majority of residents who took part in the consultation expressed a desire for new play equipment to be installed in its place.

Dawn Clark, Housing Services Director at Castles & Coasts Housing Association, said ‘ We are really pleased to be able to provide new play equipment in the Moorclose area and would like to thank all of the residents who took part in the consultation exercise.

She said: “We know that this is a very popular play park, so we are thrilled to be in a position to breathe new life into it and replace it with new equipment, which our residents have told us they would like to see.

“Our team has been working closely with the local community, to ensure that the new play park delivers the type of play facilities families would like to see. We look forward to continuing these conversations, over the coming weeks, to ensure that we provide Moorclose with a brilliant new resource for local children.”

Emma Thompson, Allerdale Local Focus Hub Manager, said that Allerdale Borough Council is working closely with Castles & Coasts Housing Association, as a valued partner.

She said: “Moorclose is a priority location for the Multi-agency Allerdale Local Focus Hub and the wellbeing and safety of our residents is a key priority for all of our partners.

“We continue to work closely with our partners, Castles & Coasts Housing Association, in the Moorclose area and are delighted to hear of their plans for new and improved play equipment for the community to enjoy.”
