CCHA’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) Champions had a great time at Cumbria Pride 2023!
The event was a great chance to meet the LGBTQ+ community and show our commitment to ED&I as a landlord and employer. Lots of Castles & Coasts residents visited our stall, with one saying:
“I think [CCHA] are brilliant, they are a great local organisation, and it’s great to see them supporting important issues.”
Alongside having some fun, our staff happily answered questions from existing and prospective residents and showed everyone that we have a genuine commitment to ED&I. They also handed out hundreds of goody bags with leaflets about us and what we do, love heart sweeties and a CCHA-branded Pride wrist band. We also collected donations for Young Lives vs. Cancer (previously CLIC Sargant)
Here’s what some of our staff thought about the day…
Louise, Independent Living Scheme Manager:
“Pride was fabulous, I will most definitely be attending next year! The atmosphere was amazing. It was wonderful to see people at ease with their individuality and to be embraced by a community without any judgement. It was so heart-warming, good for the soul!”
Benjamin, Senior Customer Experience Officer:
“I’ve experienced lots of variety working for Castles & Coasts but have never had a day quite like Cumbria Pride 2023. It was a fantastic event, very well organised and attended. We met lots of lovely people, including several residents, and were made to feel welcome by exhibitors and visitors alike. The abiding memory is of the importance that attendees placed on the flags with which they most closely identified – there are so many of them! The CCHA team all got involved in the day and were exhausted by the time we left.”
Rowena, Finance Officer:
“The LGBT+ crowd presented a feeling of warmth and acceptance, creating a safe space for people to be themselves without fear of judgement. Pride was an excellent event enjoyed by all. It was full of fun, music, dancing and smiles all round. Our stand was very popular, and it was lovely hearing all the nice comments people had to say about us. I am very proud to be working for an organisation who is proud to actively promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.”
Adam, Head of Customer Service & Engagement:
“It was so heart warming to hear residents and partner agencies say such fantastic things about CCHA. It made me feel so proud. Well done to our colleague Victoria for organising it all!”
