Over this financial year (up to 31 March 2026) Castles & Coasts Housing Association’s (CCHA’s) planned investment programme is set to improve the quality of over 1,000 of its homes across Cumbria and the North East.
The plans involve carrying out over £7million of improvements on homes including:
- Fitting 197 new kitchens and 180 new bathrooms
- Installing 173 new central heating systems
- Replacing 312 fire doors
- Replacing external doors to 48 homes
- Undertaking 65 roofing projects
- Replacing windows to 367 homes
Adrian Sampson, CCHA’s Asset Investment Manager, said: “One of our main priorities is helping our residents keep the cost of their energy use as low as possible by improving the energy efficiency of our homes, through replacing windows, doors and roofs. This is as well as our rolling programme of kitchen and bathroom replacements, all aimed at providing safe and warm homes for our residents.”
CCHA uses information from the stock condition surveys it regularly carries out, coupled with energy data from Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) to prioritise which homes need investment.
All proposed works are subject to validation surveys. Works will be confirmed with residents in advance and carried out by appointment.
