Castles & Coasts Housing Association (CCHA) is joining a national campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and help keep people in our communities safe.
Running from 3rd to 9th July, ASB Awareness Week 2023 aims to encourage communities to take a stand against ASB and highlight the actions that can be taken by those experiencing it. CCHA handled 789 cases of ASB in the 2022-23 financial year and is committed to supporting those residents who are affected by ASB.
Organised by RESOLVE, the UK’s leading ASB and community safety organisation, the week features a series of events all across the UK involving housing associations, local councils, police forces, charities, community groups and sports clubs.
CCHA has organised a week of estate walkabouts in neighbourhoods across ten towns and villages in Cumbria, Lancashire and the north east to mark the week.
Dawn Clark, Housing Services Director at CCHA said: “At CCHA we believe that everybody has a right to enjoy their home and live safely and peacefully. ASB can really blight neighbourhoods, so we’re committed to working with our partners, residents and our local communities to tackle it.”
Colleagues will be on hand to chat to residents, hand out leaflets on how to report ASB, and will be joined at points in the week by representatives from other agencies including the police, local authorities and restorative justice charity, Remedi.
Anna Bates, Head of Housing at CCHA, said: “Awareness weeks like this are a great way to remind residents to report ASB so that we can support them, investigate each case thoroughly, and take any necessary action as a result. We’re really looking forward to chatting with residents throughout the week and beyond, so that they know we’re here to help if they have issues with ASB.”

Inspector Pete Aiston, of Allerdale neighbourhood policing team, said “Anti-social behaviour isn’t just an issue for Police, and we take a multi-agency approach working closely with partners within the council and housing associations like Castle and Coasts to understand and address the issues within our communities.
“These walkarounds give partners an on the ground perspective in the area, allow partners to speak to residents together and discuss what steps Police and partners can take to tackle the issues.”
