A new housing needs survey has been launched this week by Castles and Coasts Housing Association (CCHA) to better understand the current and future housing need of residents in the Allen Valleys.
Everyone living in the area is encouraged to take part, whether you're a homeowner, renter, young adult living with parents or someone looking to downsize. People who have had to move away due to housing costs or lack of suitable options can also contribute to the survey.
Your input is vital in shaping the future of housing provision in Allendale, and we really need support and as many local residents as possible to take part in the survey.
The survey results will help CCHA build a strong case for funding and planning new homes that truly meet the needs of the community, from affordable family homes to properties suitable for older or less able residents.
Jo Ellis, CCHA’s Development Manager said: “We know that many people are facing challenges in finding affordable housing suited to their living requirements in the area they have grown up in, lived a long time and have changing needs or that need to be close to the village for work and caring responsibilities. This survey is an opportunity for local people to have a real say in what kind of housing is needed, not just now, but for future generations too. We urge people to complete the survey and come along to our information event at Allendale Village Hall on 23rd September 2025 from 1:30pm to 6:30pm to find out more.”
Whether you're currently well-housed or struggling, your response can help. Even if you’ve had to move away from the area, your experience is important and could help ensure that others don’t face the same issues in the future.
How to take part:
The survey is open until 03rd October 2025 and can be completed online at allenvalleys2025hns.co.uk or by calling in to our public event on Tuesday 23 September 2025 from 1:30pm to 6:30pm at Allendale Village Hall.
