Castles and Coasts Housing Association (CCHA) have recently received the keys from Story Homes to three new properties on the popular Oakleigh Fields development in Carlisle and are set to offer the newly built homes to local people and those who work in and around Carlisle at an affordable rent.
This recent addition expands the housing association's portfolio on Orton Road to a total of 23 units, complementing the completion earlier in 2023 of 35 homes on the Aspen Grange development in North Carlisle, also developed by Story Homes.
The new CCHA homes consist of three 2-bedroom houses with off road parking and gardens, offering families and individuals high-quality, energy efficient homes in this popular part of the city. They will be advertised on Cumbria Choice Based Lettings with a “Local Occupancy Clause”, so only people from, living or working in Carlisle can apply, and they are aimed at anybody with an identifiable housing need.
David Brown, Head of Development at CCHA, said: "I am delighted to receive the keys for these three new homes, readying them for families and individuals who live or work in Carlisle to move in to. Building on our successful lets at Orton Road and Aspen Grange, we expect significant demand for these high-quality properties, built with sustainability at their heart. Carlisle is a vibrant part of the world, and we are pleased to provide yet more people who have roots in the city and have built their families here with the chance to rent at an affordable rate."
Adam McNally, Senior Land and Planning Manager for Story Homes, said: “We are committed to delivering high quality new homes in Carlisle and we’re pleased to build on our strong partnership with CCHA with the handover of these three new homes. Delivering houses is very challenging and it shall be very rewarding to see these houses occupied by local people.”
Earlier this year, CCHA achieved the highest possible assessment ratings from the Regulator of Social Housing and is committed to tackling the need for affordable housing in a positive way by collaborating with developers like Story Homes. This partnership aims to supply sought-after housing in preferred locations, ensuring accessibility and affordability for local people.
