CASTLES & Coasts Housing Association is delighted to have helped one of its oldest residents to mark her milestone birthday.
Family and friends descended on the Tindale Drive Independent Living Scheme in Gateshead on Sunday (10 Apr) to celebrate the 100th birthday of Mrs Evelyn Parry.
The great grandmother of two and former school cook has been a resident of the bungalows adjacent in Tindale Drive, adjacent to the Independent Living Scheme for the past 42 years, after she moved from her home in Whickham when the estate was first built in 1980.
The housing association helped Mrs Parry celebrate the milestone by surprising her with a bouquet of flowers and providing their communal room in the Independent Living Scheme as a venue for the tea party, which was attended by friends and family alike.
Allison Allison, Independent Living Manager at CCHA, said: “Mrs Parry has been a resident of ours for over four decades and we’re delighted to have been able to help her celebrate her 100th birthday. We simply couldn’t let such a significant birthday pass without giving her a small token to mark this special occasion.
“It was great to see so many people attend the get together too. She’s clearly much loved and appreciated by everyone around her.”
