It is with great sadness that we must let you know of the death of Chris Lewis, former Chair of Castles & Coasts, Board Member and Member of Staffing & Governance Committee.
Chris received life-changing injuries during a mountain rescue operation in 2021 as a member of the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team and, due to the severity of his injuries, remained in hospital until November 2022.
Chris re-joined our Board in March this year and was a huge inspiration to us all. On his return to the Board it was fantastic to see that his enthusiasm, commitment and desire for the Association to perform well had not been dimmed by his physical disability, and he made a positive impact from his first meeting back with us.
Castles & Coasts meant a lot to Chris, and he played a huge part in our successes. We will all miss Chris, and our deep condolences go to his wife, Carol, family and friends.
