Castles and Coasts Housing Association (CCHA) has published its first ever Gender Pay Gap Report, now that the organisation has grown to over 250 employees.
Gender pay gap is an equality measure showing the difference in average earnings between women and men within an organisation.
It’s not the same as equal pay, which is any difference in pay for men and women doing the same or equivalent work. It’s unlawful to pay people unequally because of their gender.
Any employer with over 250 staff on a given ‘snapshot date’ has to submit and publish their gender pay gap data within one year of that date - it’s a legal requirement. Our snapshot date was 5 April 2023, when we had grown to 255 employees, so we had to prepare our first report by April 2024.
Steph Murphy, CCHA Chief Executive, said: “This has been a really interesting exercise for us. We’re genuinely committed to creating an inclusive and supportive culture and working environment, to help make sure colleagues achieve their full potential and contribute to our success regardless of their gender. Producing this report helps us on that journey.
“We’ve made good progress since we launched our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Strategy and Action Plan, and this report highlights some of the actions we will take as we work towards being a truly inclusive employer.”
