Over this financial year (1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027) Castles & Coasts Housing Association’s (CCHA’s) planned investment programme is set to improve the quality of hundreds of its homes across Cumbria and the North East.
The plans involve making over £7million of improvements on homes including:
- Fitting 195 new kitchens and 240 new bathrooms
- Installing 110 new heating systems
- Replacing external doors to 40 homes
- Undertaking 55 roofing projects
- Replacing windows for 350 homes
Adrian Sampson, CCHA’s Asset Investment Manager, said: “We aim to support our residents by keeping their energy use as low as possible through improving the energy efficiency of our homes, which will also improve ventilation and security, with replacement windows, doors and roofs. This is on top of our rolling programme of fitting new kitchens and bathrooms, all aimed at providing safe and warm homes for our residents.”
These improvement works help CCHA make sure its homes meet or exceed the government’s Decent Homes Standard, and support the organisation in its drive to get 100% of its homes to Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band B by 2028, two years ahead of the government’s national target.
CCHA uses information from the stock condition surveys it regularly carries out, coupled with energy data from EPCs, to prioritise which homes need investment.
All proposed works are subject to validation surveys and dates may change. Works are confirmed with residents in advance and carried out by appointment.
